Ally, a cardiology researcher at the

at a time when newsmen still used
the word “scoop” and kept a bottle
of bourbon in their desk drawer.
He has been twice nominated for
Best News Story of the year by the
Quebec Community Newspaper
Association, of which he won once.
Scott has also been nominated for
Best Investigative Series. Scott
currently works as a Journalist for

Passing Through Oblivion is his
first novel.

John O’Rourke had it all, a successful career as a
Journalist for a major city newspaper, a beautiful loving
wife and a young son. His perfect life comes hurtling
down when his wife and son are killed in a plane crash,
while he is in the arms of another woman.
Consumed with guilt, and emotionally adrift, John
leaves the newspaper, and moves across country to a
new job with the hope of a fresh start at another paper.
With the help of cocaine, large quantities of alcohol, and
false friends, he tries to forgive his past.
While representing his newspaper as a celebrity
bartender for a charitable event, John snorts enough
cocaine to create an embarrassing scene. In a stupor
trying to find his way home, and in a karmic moment
enters a church, and passes out. After months of drug
and alcohol abuse John’s life is circling the drain. As he
hits bottom he is taken through an afterlife unlike
anything he could’ve ever imagined. John is given the
ultimate chance to change his life, and redeem himself,
or stay in the hellish afterlife forever.
Passing Though Oblivion has an uncommon plot that
delivers memorable characters, along with riveting
suspense. It is a journey through life’s trials, climaxing
with the ultimate decision, and an ending that will shake
you to the depths of your soul.
